Difference Between Wild and Stocked Trout

Look at the dorsal, tail and pectoral fins. a wild brown will have defined sharp edges to the fins and possibly white edges to the fins. Any sort of abrasions to the fins in season usually mean they're stocked.

CATCH RETURNS

All Salmon/Sea Trout caught (even if returned) MUST be reported - This is a requirement of Spey Fishery Board & Marine Scotland.

Please let us know your Brown Trout catches also if possible - thanks.

Catch return info is VITAL as it is sent to the Spey Fishery Board and Marine Scotland twice yearly (April to June report & July to September report) to help to identify the health of the fish stock in the river, so your help in completing catch returns as soon as possible would be very much appreciated.

Catch Returns MUST be completed and returned by

10th July & 10th October.

   Even if you return fish.
